Suddenly, I came across this blog post by @AmandaPalmer, an artist known for her work in various projects, including the truly dynamic duo that records and performs under the moniker #TheDresdenDolls. The artist had this to say about a recent arrest she was the victim of in Amsterdam:
"the last time i got arrested and put in a holding cell was twenty years ago. i was 15, and me and my best friend...made up a reggae-sounding freedom song about how we didn’t deserve to be locked up and sang in(sic) on repeat at the tops of our lungs while a drunk chick in the next holding cell screamed relentlessly at the cops to let her out. it felt bad-ass."
She also said this, which really hits my #SweetSadness spot:
"it was a real sorry. and a fake one."
As you can see from this #Footie, the poor girl got stopped by a Damsterland lady-cop (Mandy swearz it wuz a dude) for performing the most annoying song (which makes it one of the best) that we can remember from #TheViolentFemmes' self-titled debut.

If you don't have it, get it. |
"back then, and it was just as unpleasant now…but at least back then i had my friend. we kind of liked being in the holding cell…we made up a reggae-sounding freedom song about how we didn’t deserve to be locked up and sang in on repeat at the tops of our lungs while a drunk chick in the next holding cell screamed relentlessly at the cops to let her out. it felt bad-ass."
Amanda, who obviously has some ALT ideas that have shaped her the post-feminist ALTgurl attitudes she holds toward authority figures, still took the incident well and gave some sound advice for those of us living within the confines of society.
"don’t argue with cops. ever. ever. especially in front of their countrymen."
And to the kid, @RyanAnas who got all artsy with the Sharpie?
I can use the back-light on my laptop to trace graffiti stencils from the Internet too, BRO.
But, seriously. Mad Doodlage on dat #T-Shir, dawg.
Question:
Anyone else catch this track by Jamie xx of The xx? Yeah, found it @Carles' post on Monday.
Real Question:
What is buzz? (Why) is it important? How does this relate to content?
